New To The 3rd Gen Family...well, sorta...

Hey guys... I have not posted on here in quite a while...

I am the founder of The F-Body Hideout which is a world-wide website and message board for all F-Body owners from our 1st Generation up through our present F-Body. I've owned my 1997 Camaro Z28 since 97 and have been in the community since then.

Recently I purchased a 1992 Camaro RS and I'm gonna have plenty of questions. The car is not home yet. I'll need to get it towed from it's current location to my house which is only about 15 miles. Reason being is because the fuel pump is dying. The psi is only at about 5-7 and that could get real fugly.

On the Hideout we have a great 3rd Gen crowd there eager to help with tech questions as well. I'll be bouncing back and forth my questions from here and there to get the widest audience's help and I hope to help many of you as my knowledge base builds.

I've been pretty damn impressed by how this site has been growing...

At the moment, is there anything that any of you can post about in regards to this 92 RS? I really know nothing other than the car has no performance mods...everything, from what I've been told are factory. Any hints, tips, and tricks are very welcome!

Thanks guys/gals...

Welcome!

If you're going to be modding your car, I'd suggest the first stuff to buy would be the PROM tuning equipment. Check out Traxion's article in the Tech section.

Thank you....

Not sure what PROM stands for yet...but as I mentioned...I've got a LOT to learn about my new baby.

I'll check his write up on this...

Thank you again!

PROM - Programmable Read Only Memory

Thirdgens respond to pretty much the same mods that a fourthgen, or any normally aspirated engine will.

As far as tips/tricks: you probably have the 305 TBI, so check out the tech articles under Ultimate TBI for some cheap and easy mods for a little extra oomph. You're in the right place to find out.

This is "THE" site. If you have a question, it "WILL" be answered,
sometimes with more info than you may be able to digest.

Welcome aboard!

Hey thanks a lot guys! Yea, I was just talking to another friend with a 3rd Gen and he told me nothing but good words about this site.

I just got the ride home and cleaned her up and yes, it is the TBI I'll see what I can do with it and check out the forum for TBIs.

Here's the link to the pics of the ride...I cleaned it up a bit...and made a hell of a difference. I had no idea that these rims really were white under all that crap.

Here's the link to the pictures: http://www.f-bodyhideout.com/Project_RS

Thanks....

I paid $164.11 for the RS. Yup, you read that correctly.... Long story, but I basically had to pay for the diagnostic and labor that the previous owner had done at the dealership and the pink slip was turned over to me by him.

Not a bad deal eh? Hell, even if I had decided to part out the car...I would have made atleast 5 times what I had purchased the car for....but I just can't see parting this car out. Maybe it's my love for our F-Bods... I'd much rather get the rear body damage repaired and paint the ride to a stunning finish and work the engine, drivetrain, and suspension to run in the mid-12s to mid-13s. Sure, it may take me a couple of years...but in the end...I'll have a smile from cheeck to cheeck.
