Can I fit 255/50ZR/16s

Hey

I am wondering if I can fit 255/50Zr/16s on the rears. I have the origional stock 16" IROC Z rims. Will those tires fit.

Yes, they will fit fine on the rear and might rub just a little on the fronts when turning sharply.

no problem on the rears but what i did to remedy the front isuue is to use a hammer and lightly but firm tap the fenderwell....there are screws there that hold the fender liner on and those are the screws that will rub...tap on those a little bit and tyou wont have a problem

No, they don't bulge, they are only 10mm wider, not a fantastic width difference.

I think 265's on the back would be perfectly acceptable, assuming you pick the right aspect ratio (sidewall size). I don't know off the top of my head what the correct ratio would be, but you want an overall tire diameter of about 26".

Who makes a 265 16 inch ? I just bought 2 back tires and asked if there was anything bigger than a 255 16 and they told me no.

I think BFG has a 265/50/16.... I have 245s on the front with 255s on the rear, I like the look. When it comes to tires you need to shop around. Because there is so much difference in width between brands of the same size.

I've even heard of 295's goin on 3rd's with slight wheel well mods, like rolling the edges. I know 275/40-17's would go perfect on them.

I know what you mean about the size difference,I also have 245's on the front and 255's on the rear. All four tires were Dunlop Sport 5000,for some reason the back tires did not last as long .When I went to get my new ones they did not carry the Dunlops anymore,I ended up getting Firestone Firehawks SZ50EP.They are really nice tires with a V tread design, but I noticed they did not seem as wide as my front tires.I measured them and they are almost an inch skinnier,I could'nt believe the 255 was skinnier than the 245.Oh well,I will need front tires before too long and then they will all match again.

Those Firestones do have a cool looking foot print. Back when money was tight, I would go around to the different used tire places and get my 245s. I used many different brands, I found out the same thing about Firestone. They were narrower than the others of the same size.

I had a set of 255s Dunlop D40 M2s (something like that) on the car a few years back. Those really stuck in the corners, I dont think they make them anymore.

I pretty happy with the Futura Zs I have now they have one of the widest foot prints for there size and have a good balance of ride and handling.

futuras are good tires, I've never used them but my buddy had a 4th gen formula and put those on his car. they get very sticky when u warm them up . BUT when I get my 17's I'm gonna go with kumho supra's. I have heard nothing but good new about that kind of tire. plus for 17's they are only 93 bucks a pop:hail:

Does putting wider tires on the rears affect handling?? I know you want a wider tire for better launches/racing.
