poly engine mount inserts

i tried searching but found no definitive answer. our motor mounts are 3 bolt or 4 bolt style? thanks in advance. i'm tired of breaking the stock rubbers.

i'd think if you've broke the stock rubber mounts you'd know the answer. far as i know, or all that i've seen have been 3 bolt, but i don't know if that would matter to the mount what the clam shell is. there has been some post about es poly mount raising the engine a little bit, enough for STBs to rub or the hood to not shut.

i know that there are 3 bolts that hold the mount. many people have used the inserts, but they list the # for the 4 bolt mount. that is what has me confused i have ordered the 3 bolt mount inserts before and damn they don't fit in the clamshell. i literally crushed the mount just re-closing the clamshell. i had to use my vise to just get them to close. that's why i asked. maybe the 4 bolt fit better? or atleast easier? thanks again

mystikkal. You said you keep breaking the rubber mounts. Try using a tiedown strap on your motor. A lot of Grand Nationals have them. Straping the engine to the fram on one side reduces how much the engine pivits on the mounts under stressful situations. I used to break mounts in my TA all the time. Then i used the strap and haven't broken them again since. Even on drag radials I had no problems.

the mounts are 4 bolt style, however they are attached to the front cradle with 3 bolts. The 3 bolt style are the older ones (used up to... 74 I think(??)

No! solid tranny mounts are not needed and will crack trannies, which are most all alum.

If you can't shift, then the problem is in the shifter, the tranny, the clutch release, or the driver, or sometimes worn out motor mounts, but not ones that are in good condition.

Never use a solid tranny mount.
