whats the difference between a world class t-5 and a non world class t-5...what cars had them and which did not...
were they any stronger then the non version and were the ratios different?
i have a 91 5 speed do i have the world class?
brent87lt1 from the GTASOURCEPAGE had a 87 gta with a 400 horse lt1 in his and it had a t-5 and he didnt have n e problems with the trans not holding up...and if it could hold up to a hi powerd lt1 why didnt gm put it behind a l98

there is some engine related infor here, so just relax a minute.
one of the rumors i've heard is that when you downshift a manual transmission, the engine runs lean i think it is. do a search to confirm this, as i do remember it being discussed earlier this year.
the supposed problem with the 350/manual combination was that in tests with a manual transmission, the engine ran so lean that it couldn't pass smog tests.
however, this is one of many rumors, so take any that you hear with a grain of salt. i tend to believe this one about the smog tests.

a friend of mine works in a machine shop, and rebuilt his T5 from the ground up, meeting all the specs of a world class T5.. actually in some cases I think he is a little better.. it's really "tight"..

There are many many rumors about why GM didnt put the L98 with the T5. The most widely accepted one (and the one that makes the most sense, the one I believe) is the T5's rated torque strength is lower than the L98 's output. GM didnt want to have so many warrenty claims.
My T5 blew up at the track in April, after running the times in my sig in March. They'll last for a while if you dont abuse them, but racing at the track is abuse, and you will break it eventually.
All f-bodies from 88 and newer have the World Class T5, so yes your 91 is the WCT5.

You can't "meet the specs" of a "World Class" T5 with 1st design parts. They're different. The cases are different, the gears are different, the bearings are different, the mainshaft is different; while it might be possible with enough machine work to install 2nd design parts into a 1st design case, it would be stupid, because you'd spend several times as much money (time) on machine work as you would on just buying the right case in the first place.
Please dispense with rumor and hearsay. This is a tech site, for the spread of knowledge and fact, not rumor.
Building a manual transmission "tight" does nothing for its strength. That is not what it's all about.
A couple of sites you can look at for real information include

Kevin is correct, GM was unwilling to take the warranty risk involved with putting the T5 behind 350 motors. They will last when treated carefully, but will not survive abuse even behind a 305 (I tore mine up several times with the original L69 before I finally quit pretending it was a 4-speed.) Since GM can't control driver behavior, they made the economically necessary if not very performance-oriented decision that they had to make.

I have a bone stock 84 model NON world class T5 behind my 400. Had it for over a year now. It's been holding up just fine. Of course that's because I don't powershift it, dump the clutch at 5000 (thinking I would actually hook), OR put slicks or drag radials on it.
