305 H.o.?
305 H.o.?
While tinkering around under my T/A the other day I saw that there's a knock sensor in the right side of the block. Does this mean the I might have a High Output 305? According to the block code the engine was originally out of an 84 truck.

Thats not completely true. Not all H.O. Trans Am's had the dual snorkel air cleaner. My 84 H.O. T/A didnt have it...and it was all original, it just had the functional "power bulge" hood.
The engine I have was swaped out by the prevous owner in 93. It's definatly not from an F body because the block code tags it as being from an 84 truck. Also, the exhaust manifold is different (pre heater on the right vice left and air tube ports for #7 & #8 cyl on the side vice the top). The vin code is H but that matters not, in this case anyway.

I'm not sure about the block code, but in the vin, the eighth letter from the left will be a G.
The G engine code is for the H.O. L69 motor.
I hope that helps.

Yes, I've also heard that some of the Firebirds didn't use dual snorkles but had cowl induction through the hood.
Very cool, too

Of course, my little old LG4 has a retrofitted dual snorkle, which is mucho cool looking, as well :sillylol: :sillylol: :sillylol:
