What is the difference between the LG4 and L69? I know the LG4 has the Low Output Carb, is that the difference between the two? cuz i'm thinking about buying a 83 Z28 that has the LG4 and i dont really know if it is worth it. can anyone give me some stats, tips, tricks about this one? i'd really like to know what i was getting into before i commited. anyone know the stock 1/4 times or anything???

You should do a search on it. It's been covered many times before. The L69 has a bigger cam, bigger exhaust, different metering rods and a dual snorkel air intake. 3.73's were out back in the 7.5" diff and 83 was only available with a 5 speed. Usual 1/4 mile times were low 15's.

I might also add that L69 cars that year came with electric fans vs. clutch fans, and flat top pistons instead of dish, and composition hood instead of steel (although I have heard claims that all 83 Z28s had the light hood, that has not been my experience).

A 83 L69 Z28 (such as mine) was good for 15.1-15.2 off the showroom floor. Take out the spare tire and a few other completely free things, you're in the 14s. 14.7 for less than $100 was not out of the question. That was the fastest Chevrolet by far that year. It would spank the CFI Vettes of the day like a red-headed stepchild. It easily beat the TPI 305s, especially the automatic ones, until about 89; and held its own against the 350 TPIs until 89 as well. A friend of mine bought a brand-new 85 Vette with the 4+3, and we lined em up many times; I could leave pretty good on him, get maybe a car and a half on him, then starting at about 60 MPH he would slowly catch up and move ahead. We even traded cars to see if it was the driver... it wasn't.

An LG4 computer will not work with a holley 600. Check to see what they've done with the computer and distributor before you buy it. How many miles does it have on it?

High 15s or low 16s. 17s when they get tired.

The L69's are faster than the LG4's. JK.

Same:

Heads - block - intake(I think)

Different:

Cam - Secondary Rods/Hangers - Exhaust - Cat - Gearing - Computer (PROM) - Air Cleaner(Duel Snorkel) - Pistons

That's all I can think of. RB83L69 - Chime in anytime!!
