Yep. Though some of you may consider it "the dark side", others may consider it part of the same team, I'm (providing everything with the loan officer goes well today) buying a 93 Z28 Camaro. I wanted to get a loan on a decent car but I couldn't get one on a car older than 93, so I decided to go fourth gen. Please don't hurt me. :-)
It's nice though. It's already got K & N Cold Air Intake, Edelbrock headers, Flowmasters, 3:73 gears, and it's a 350 with a 6-speed manual... what more can I ask for? :-) It has Corvette rims on it which look kinda weird IMO, but that's okay. I may exchange them for something else somehow. The only problem is that the rear end is really whiny (I think b/c of the gears) and it will probably get annoying as this will be my daily, but oh well. I'll probably Dynomat the trunk or something to help with that.
69k miles, $6700
Anyhow, sorry I posted this here, didn't know where else to put it, but I'm excited because it really is a nice car. And I'm sure I'll still frequent the boards because you guys are all awesome. :-)

Will do.
Hopefully I can drive this one longer than two weeks, unlike my 91 ::groan::

Congrats! I own two 4th gens myself, though the more I look at third gens the more I prefer them. The 93 is a little different animal than the later LT! cars (speed density, removable PROM, different gearing in the 6 speed), but just as easy to mod. The gears are prone to whining, esp if they're aftermarket like Richmond, etc...the factory GM gears are a little quiter, but I wouldn't worry about it too much. After all, if you mod the car some more, and spend any time at the drags with sticky tires, you'll be putting a new rearend in it anyway

Does anybody happen to know when these things like to shift? (ie when should I shift when I go to the track, as a starting point). I have never done the 1/4 so I don't expect to be phenomenal, but I'd like to enter the track at least with some idea of what to do.

Here's one...its a 1997 SS, with graphite leather interior, 6 speed, ttops, and most available SS options. Its being put back to stock now to sell, but it had: Lingenfelter CNC ported heads, GTP 6 cam (.568/.592, 236/242, 112 LSA), Random headers, Random Y-pipe with dual cats, Random stainless cat back, stock bored 52mmtb, OBD1 conversion and custom program by Atlanta Chassis Dyno, McLeod Street Twin clutch, Pro 5.0 shifter, MSD Digital 6 ignition, Lingenfelter aluminum 3.5 driveshaft with solid joints, Moser 9" with soft locker, 4.11s, Nodular case, 35 spline axles, Granatelli subframe connectors, Metco LCAS, Herb Adams panhard, Eibach springs, Weld Draglite IIs and MTs on the strip (and for playing), stock SS wheels with BFG Comp TAs on ths street. BTW the Power Tour decals were just there for the tour. This was taken a couple days before the 2000 tour.
The other car is a Quasar Blue Metallic 94Z hardtop A4. Its all stock except for a cowl hood, white 97 5 spoke 16" wheels, and Flowmaster muffler. Its my beater.

I had whiny Richmond 4.10's in my 92 formula 350. I ended up selling the car and found out about a week later that the rear exploded when the gears took a crap.
There's nothing wrong with 4th gens. I have a 00 TA 6 speed
damn is it fun to drive

just don't get hit in the front fender.. big hole.
not real fun to put a motor in.. but if you get someone to do the work for u its not too bad.
It's OK to get a 4thgen, just long as you keep a thirdgen around.
I'm on my 2nd fourth gen, and 4th thirdgen.
It's not hard at all to put a motor in a 4thgen. The whole drivetrain drops out from the bottom.

Its not hard at all...if you have a lift, or don't mind jacking the front end of the car 36" off the ground! Sorry, this is one of the worst things GM ever did to the F-body!

AAAAARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My loan didn't get approved.

I can't get my car.
My grandfather was going to co-sign (I'm 18, almost 19, living at home, no credit) but they didn't approve him as a co-signer (excessive obligation to the co-signer. I guess they have more bills than income. So even though they have great credit they can't sign.)
So now I still have no car, and only about $1550 in cash (about 2 grand by Saturday), and I want to get a nice Camaro or Firebird with a 350 and a manual that's reliable and doesn't have 987928719879387 miles on it. Guess I'm screwed.

Don't suppose anybody wants to sell me a thirdgen with a 350 and no rust for under $2500 that lives within 100 miles of Dayton, OH (or is willing to meet me somewhere)...?
EDIT: Yes, yes, I know, that's what classifieds are for. I already posted.
