Engine kits
I want the best power for the lowest price within reason. I figured a fresh new block and disassembled componets would offer a low price, ability to easily put on componets I like and make any changes I see fit.
So any one know of a good one with quality parts? Forged pistons and rods would be prefferable, a 383 would be best. Just seeing if anyone has any recommendations.

I am building my 383 with budget in mind... So far I have sped pro forged pistons, scat 383 crank, vortec heads, harlan sharpe roller rockers, chroe oil pan, edelbrock headers. When I finish my engine with rods intake and carb, I will only have spent $1900-$2000. Imagine that huh? All ya got to do mayne, is look in the thirdgen classifieds, and local people that need to get rid of stuff. It takes time, but I got more of that than money. Good luck man,

This place has some good prices....http://www.northernautoparts.com/
basically the replacement parts aren't going to make you any more or cost you any power. you'll pick up a little with thinner rings but the bearings and gaskets will all be the saem, power wise. you'll make gains running a lighter crank, rods, and pistons, but i'm sure the reality of it is you're more concerned about saving a few bucks than gaining a few HP. clevite, speed pro, fel pro, melling are all names to look for for quality replacement parts without spending a lot of money.

You gotta order their 1200 page catalog though. They got WAY TOO MUCH stuff to list on a website. It's about $6. You can use it as a pillow to, IT'S THICK!!!
www.enginekits.com
That's PowerHouse. They'll send you a free 10 page flyer. It's kind of a cheesy flyer, but they got some of the lowest prices I've seen.

They're a very reputable place, but you pay a little more because of it.

Only seen their ads in CHP magazine. Don't know squat about their service or catalogs.
Then there's prefabbed motors. Some of the websites above either sell them preassembled, or will assemble them for a nominal fee.
I could give you about 20 for prefabbed engines, but I won't. Not yet anyway.
