What do thirdgener's do?...

Hey all. Just curious, as to what all us thirdgener's do. Ya go to Highschool? College? Tech school? Job? Career? Nothing? Etc? I believe it would be interesting to see what types of people drive the good ol' thirdgens, dont ya think?

I'll start off first. I work at Stop & Shop part time. And go to college full time, looking to major in Mechanical Engineering. I commute to school in my Oldsmobile. (Still lookin to sell the ol' ROC!)

I own a pizza shop. I bought my 89 formula 350 when I was 25. I have not started modding until I went to the Drag strip one day and I was hooked on beeting Mustangs and Imports. Now I strive to be faster the LT1s. Now I am 32 and life is more fun with a cool hobby. It helps to know people with the same passion for fast GM cars.

I'm also in college, majoring in biomedical science. I have a friend with a CIS degree who is making 48k with benefits right now, he's only 19. Pretty good for having a "lazy major" as we called it.

I also work two jobs. I am a 28 year old Nissan auto technician by day (it's like a mechanic, but I have a degree). I also valet park cars at a dog track a couple of nights. I bought my last 3rd gen, the one I working on now, to keep me busy and keep my mind occupied after my brother's recent death. I helped him do a frame off restoration on a 1974 vette and also made a 1988 f-250 go from looking like a sanford and son special back to its showroom days.

Sold my mint condition T100 Pickup and finally bought the car I have wanted since High school; '89 IROC. Out of all the cars I have owned and sold to this point, this is the only one I love to drive.

Graduating in CS this December. Foreign (from Croatia). Planning to stay in the US of A for "a couple of more years."

Prefer older American Muscle cars over most of today's cars. The older the better (although 1st ans 2nd gens could use some suspension work). The only worthy exceptions are Fiat Lancia Delta Integrale (Evoluzione II, for example), hard-to-find modded old Eurotrash (rigged up Yugos, Opels, Fiats, VWs and oldass bimmers such as 318s), older Nissan 300ZXs and that's it. As for the rest, they are just consumer cars, nothing more.

Didn't know jack about cars in January. Began driving the ghettocar in February. Did some work on my Camaro. A couple of 4-banger rebuilds and 4-banger modding over the summer.

1 totalled car (have to practice handbrake turns a little more). 2 wrecks on a motorbike (in the same night, on the same bike). Stormed through Bosnia @ 100mph in a 1.4 liter Renault. After a couple of interesting events in USA not mentioned here, decided I don't want to die young. Hm, that's it, just about sums it up

Sheet Metal Worker

I fabricate and install duct work for HVAC, as well as coping, gutters, fascia, and steel roof panels for commercial buildings.

I've taken a few courses at the local Community College on automotive, but have no degree. Most of my automotive knowledge is 'self taught'.

I've had several Chevys, about 13? I've even had a '94 Z28, and enjoyed it a lot. But after having a hot rod '72 Nova, I miss the 'extreme' power. That's why I bought a 3rd gen. I've got plans for it, but the'yre coming along slowly. Soon to be 31. married, and kids kinda take precedence over moding my car.

Dude, WHAT is the name/code of the colour in your sig?? I need it. Now. If this gets locked, PLEASE PM me with it!

You know how you see a car in a particular shade and you say to yourself, "that's the colour"?

That's the colour.

Oh BTW, I work in a garage fitting tyres, exhausts, batteries, shocks, the odd engine...and the odd day in a parts store.

I am an electrical/mechanical engineer, with a degree from Southern Illinois University. Worked for Methode for a year or so making automotive switches and columns. Then I worked for Roush industries for a while. Now I design the electrical systems for big yellow earth moving machines (CAT). I have always had firebirds and my 91 GTA is the best yet. My everyday car is a 87 Mitsubishi Mighty Max and yes that is what it is really called

i know it isn't tech and i know i should lock it, and i will later on. i do beleive this serves the intrest of a large number of members here and not the interest of the poster like a lot of non tech threads do, and some non tech threads are clear violations of the rules of conduct and membership of thirdgen.org. remember i don't make the rules here, just enforce them.

Is there a place we can move it to. I reply to these just for the fact it is a good way to meet people and get to know who is giving you advice. We have done this on a lot of the race boards and it makes it nicer to go to events because there are people there you kind of know. When I moved here I found out that some of the people I work with I also race with. I just did not know until one of these type of post popped up

Well i am an 18 year old high school grad waiting to move upt to chicago for school (and get out of this damned mid missouri town). I am working for kelly temp services at the local oscar mayer plant (produces most hot dogs of all of their plants) while makeing payments on my camaro and trying desperatly to sell my 78 320i bmw. Also an avid FIA WRC rally fan (Go Peugot!). I love G-machines, ya a 1/4 mile is fun, but what happens at the end of that 1/4 miles and you have to make a 90* corner at 100mph?

I guess I don't have to worry about that. My car is far from 100MPH in the 1/4 mile.

That's the colour.

I know it's Purple Pearl Metallic, and it's a '92 only color for 3rd gens. The previous owner stripped the RPO sticker outta the car though so I don't know the Code. Sorry.

PimpRod92RS has the same color... here's a pic of his. Maybe you can PM him and get the RPO code.

AJ

EDIT: Wait. I just did a search to find his car, and you posted your car in the same thread. https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=128701 You have that color although it did look pretty faded. Mine's peeling, so don't feel bad. And DupliColor doesn't make that color.

thirdgen went tech only a few years ago because of problems on the non tech board. there are a lot less problems now, but it's also a lot harder to really "know" who a poster is now. i miss the non tech board but things are a lot smoother now. if you want non tech go to mac gyvers board www.nethirdgen.org

I went from being enrolled in the Univ. of Floridas honors pre-med program in 1995 to installing windows in 2002. Its pretty depressing when I think about it. But, Im going back to school at USF to become an electrical engineer. I got my first car 79 ltd before I was 16. I also sold it before I was 16. I bought my 91 firebird off my dad for $1500 in 1995 when I left for college. You could've eaten of the engine when he gave me the keys. After a few years of partying I realized I loved my car and started taking better care of it. I've been pulled over more then ten times in the last five years, but never get a ticket. One time a cop said "Do you know how fast you were going!""No sir.""How about mach 1"
He ended up letting me go after giving me a sobriety test, I wasn't, I was 18, drunk(I dont drink anymore I know drinking and driving is dumb) and hauling ***. He said "We don't think your too drunk, so drive carefully. Good night." I'm lucky, when I get a big ticket I'll pay without crying.

Drive safely everybody!

Barrister and Solicitor in Toronto. Raced 100cc karts all over Canada and have a basement full of cheap trophies to prove it.

Working on cars is the only thing I like to do. Have an 83TA, LG4, 200C, J65 which I bought in 87. It has a Hooker Catback, Highflow Cat, Hedman Hedders and SLP 17x9.5 Firehawk rims. Future mods are Tremec T56, 350 HO Delux and the usual suspension stuff. Daily driver is a Ford half ton.

What do ThirdGenners do? For one, we close non-technical threads on the technical boards.

Yes, it's too bad that there is no longer a non-tech forum, since it was this kind of thread that would have been ideal there. As usual, however, it only takes one to spoil it for everyone. Until there is a non-tech section again, interesting, semi-usuful, yet completely unoffensive threads such as this are to be relegated to Mac's non-tech board at www.nethirgen.org. In the interim, we'll just have to sneak in some of our non-technical content among the tech postings, as we have been.

Sorry, but it's Dirk's call, not mine. But if you want to take it out on me, go ahead. My mailbox is open.
