Finally have video of engine bogging

Here is a link to my video. http://webpages.charter.net/snavely/engine.avi
The sound is not great but you can hear the engine cut when I give it gas and then kick in. I do it three times, and then I give it gas gradually(sp?) and it is fine.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Brian

Mine seems to be doing the same thing lately....but only when the car is first started for the day...otherwise it runs fine all day after the first few minutes.

I have noticed that it does get better over time but it is still bothering me that it is doing it at all. It never did it before and I hate it.
Thanks,

Brian

My 2.8 did that for the longest time... check your vacuum lines, MAF or TPS...

You also might wanna find out what the ungodly howl is coming from under your hood... sounds like a dead Alt, vacuum leak or exhaust leak...

Just my .02

start with a complete tune up, from the video it sounds like a slight hesitation. I would also adjust the TPS and maybe put a can of gumout or two in the tank.

after that it could be a bad pickup, modual, or coil. By bad i mean it could be a little off, it might run that way for years without ever getting worse.

acualy it could be alot of stuff

secondary ignition system.

Cap, rotor, sparkplugs wires, plugs
This is the first place to look.

I think, if I can remember, it is like 11* or maybe 12*.

I just replaced the cap and rotor. the wires and plugs are going to be checked next.

Part of it is that I had just taken the air filter out, these things really suck alot of air. It sounds alot worse because it is a digital camera with video functions.

Thanks for all the suggestions,

Brian
By the way, how do I go about checking the TPS, where is it and what do I look for.

If your Running 11 - 12 * initial Timing, that may be a Bit(ha) much.

Try Pulling it back to the Stock Setting, and lets see if your problem dissapears

On a FI car you should really adjust timing in the Chip, Not using the old dist Method.

The TPS is the sensor on the pass side of the throttle body. Follow the directions in the tech articles on this site to adjust it.

The timming on the car was set by the previous owner. I have had the car for 1.5 years now and I just checked the timming maybe 3 months ago and that is how it was set. It was always running fine and fast until recently. If the timming was that much off could it have slowly crapped it out? I will check everything listed this weekend and give an update then.

Thanks,
Brian
