Gas in oil

I have the chance to buy a 1985 TA with TPI for real cheap, but the car dont run the guy said that he drove it for a year and then for 3 days it ran really bad but it didnt throw a code. Then one day he tried to start it and it only turns over but will not fire, and now when you pull out the oil dip stick it smells like gas. So what could be wrong with it. iam hoping its not a cracked block.

THANKS
MIKE

It could be a spark plug is not firing and gas is poring into the cylinders and seeping in to the oil pan.

Most likely it is a leaky injector or a few of them.

Ya but would bad injectors cause it to run bad for like 3 days and then not run at all a day later.

Could be a PCV valve.

Yep , leaking enough to make it run really rich and then leaking enough to flood a cylinder.

Pull all the plugs out, take the 12v wire off the dist. and crank the hell out of it. If a cylinder, or cylinders have excess fuel, this will blow it out. Clean off the plugs, check the gap, put everything back and see if it will fire. And yes, gas in the oil is bad. One reason is because it is not suppose to be there. If the the oil gets thin enough, the bearings will let go.

Would leaky fuel injectors cause the car to stop running like that. Cuz the guy iam going to buy the car off of said he drove it for a year and like for 3 days straight it ran really bad and then one day he went to start it and it would only turn over but wouldn't fire. And then he pulled out the oil dipstick and it smells like gas. So could it be the bad injectors or maybe the timing chain is bad or something else.

THANKS
MIKE

Change the oil, take out the plugs, turn the motor over like it has been said. A plug that is wet will not fire. By the car none the less. 500 for car like that is well worth it. How many miles? But give this a try, good luck.

it's simple either on of the 8 injectors is leaking badly/stuck open, the cold start injector is leaking, or the fuel pressure regulator has ruptured. be sure to check for spark and ignition components as previously metioned. all in all it should be a some what simple fix. atleast to me it is.

no code for the above listed. they are mechanical problems. (things the computer can't really monitor)
