Stalling all the time

MY 1987 TA stalls all the time. I recently aquired it and it was running fine. It ran fine during my 12 hour drive from Atlanta to Dallas. It seemed to run a little rough at low idle. A friend of mine suggested cleaning the injectors. So I did that. And the problem seemed to go away. Now the damn thing stalls at higher rpms where as before it only did it under 1000rpms. And it stalls all the time now. I did lose an AC belt on my trip from Atlanta and all my problems started after I replaced the AC and Alternator belts. What could be the deal?

Also I'd like to point out that on the highway at higher RPMS she runs strong and moves great. After letting it cool down for a couple hours after it was stalling real bad I tried again and I had to give it gas while I started it. And I reved it to about 2k and left it there for a couple minutes. Then it idled at 500rpm for about 3 or 4 minutes before dying again.

Not that I am aware of. Now I haven't had the car but for a few days. I got it from an auction. And for the most part the car is in good shape. All my real problems began after replacing my belts. I replaced the AC belt becuase it broke. Then I decided since my Alternator belt is only going to last 1 or 2 thousand miles if I'm lucky, I might as well replace it. Now I have not seen any error codes other than my service engine soon light comes on some of the time.

That is an error code, you have to retreive it from the computer and check it against the list of codes and their meanings.

I don't have alot of experience with these cars. I have never worked on a car with an ECU before. How do I retriece the code? Also a friend of mine that does have experience with these cars had suggested checking the fuel filter. We are going to try and work on the car tonight. Depending on the weather. I was just wanting some addtional ideas so that I would better know how to proceed.

Could the fuel filter die or get clogged within a couple days and cause these problems?

Ahh I fixed it. The problem may be becuase I replaced the AC Belt. Becuase adding a belt causes some extra load on the motor. I think that when the AC was repaired they jacked with the idle. The car was trying to idle at 500rpm. Now it would sometimes do that, but when you put it into gear the idle drops a bit lower. And that is when it would die. So I raised the idle and everything works fine now. I also had a vacum leak that didn't help matters. I fixed that too.
