Car starts then stops almost immediately
I have an 88IROC 5.7TPI. Until recently all was going well but now I am in major hell. I had done some work recently - replaced power steering pump , thermostat. Started car okay no problem then after about 15 minutes car just stopped - not overheating or anything. Noticed that on trying to restart that a continuous noise coming from the fuel pump relay like it was either shorting out or trying to activate. Changed relay and car started okay then stopped after 10 seconds. Now every time I try to start the car after letting it sit for a few minutes the relay either makes the same noise and won't start or it is quiet and the car will start and then stop after a few seconds. I have looked to see if there is anything I could have dislodged while doing the work but can't see anything obvious - anyone have any ideas
Thanks
Andrew

Check the fuel pump/ECM fuse in the black plastic holder clipped to the right inner fender (near the battery). It's a 20A fuse, and if it was somehow disturbed or wet down with coolant, it may not be connected well enough.
Thanks for the info - checked out the fuse and is ok. I have replaced the MAF sensor and burn-off relays and now the fuel pump relay is no longer making a noise but car still starts then dies. Have tried pumping the gas but car still stops. Have noticed that if left at idle that just before it dies the revs go up slightly. Could it be a problem with fuel pump or IAC valve?
Now thinking it could be a vacuum problem - have noticed that the vacuum hose entering the throttle body near the IAC valve from the CCV has a t- piece with a length of hose attached but unfortunately it is not attached to anything at the other end. There is no indication of this hose on the diagram on the hood or any other vacuum diagrams I have seen. I can't see anywhere that this hose should be attached to.
Any help is appreciated
