Code 34 - Vacuum Leak ... EGR??
Code 34 - Vacuum Leak ... EGR??
My SES light has been on since I got it from its original owner. I've gotten rid of every problem except it's still coding 34 - Low Voltage / High Vacuum from MAF. I tried unplugging the MAF and it still runs the same, which I've been told means that the MAF isn't the problem in this case, though, there are some visible problems with it (I heard that the orange piece is supposed to be flat ... and mine is kind of .... bubbly)
During my search of the forums and several other places I've also noticed people talk about replacing their EGR valve to fix this problem, and the possibility of a vacuum leak. I'm gonna try to find out where this problem lies myself, but if anyone could tell me an easy way to track down the location of a vacuum leak it would be much appreciated, thanks
BTW: I drive a 1987 Camaro 2.8L TPI, which is mostly stock at this point.

hehe, forgot the pics :x btw, this is right under where the intake is, and that tube is attached to one of the ends of a T-connector ... so I'd imagine that it's missing something. I'm just not sure what though .... thanks in advance.

I found the problem (I think,) I'll take pics when I get everything hooked back, just for the sake of possibly helping someone else out. I see alot of that "USE THE SEARCH BUTTON" going around
Fixed what I thought the vacuum problem was, car runs alot better, but the SES light is still on, coded 34, again. Did a visual inspection of the MAF, no cracks or anything, but the orange square in the middle is all bubbly, and IIRC, it's supposed to be as flat as possible ... so I'm gonna try replacing that shortly, and see how it works out.

Andrew - Sorry man, forgot to take the pics ... I'll get em up by Monday, but I've got a busy weekend ahead of me (family birthdays and whatnot.) I'll try to explain it though ...
OK, stand (or picture standing) directly over the throttle body, with the intake pointing in your direction. The "T" I was orginally referring to it directly under the intake in the throttle body. There should be a plastic tube that's connected to it. If it isn't, then this is your problem
Anyways, back to where it connects to ... It's behind the top pulley for the belt on the right. There will be 2 lines side-by-side up to that point (I hope
) I hope I explained it ok ... if you have any other questions feel free to post here or email me, and I'll try to force myself to free up some time to take those pictures for you. Thread
