Hey

I might be getting this 383 stroker built, Im not sure yet, I still have to check out a couple more places.
K how does this sound.
Block: 4 bolt main
Heads: 624, 882 Castings
Valves: 1.94 intakes, 1.50 exhaust
Cam: Performance grind
Pistons: Coated Hyper
Rings: Moly
Bearings: Michigan "H" series (race series)
Crank: Scat 383 3.75" stroke
Manifold: Holly Stealth ram
Rockers: Roller Rockers

This engine is set up for a Carb but I want to go EFI. The cam built with this engine is a Flat Tappet cam that will be changed to a Roller Cam.

The engine puts out 345HP@5400 and 400ft/lbs@3700
It will make 300ft/lbs@2200

What do u guy think of this engine. Is it any good. I still have to check out a couple more. This one comes with a 80,000kms, 5 year warranty.

Those two head casting are about the worst chevy ever made.
Surely you can pick something better, out of the garbage.

Why build a 383 at extra cost over a 350 and them handicap it
with *really crappy heads*. Any roller cam would just be wasted.

Keep checking with different shops on what you should build for your money.
The ones who have advised you on this are not doing you any favours.

Some good heads are:
Vortecs, Corvette L98 aluminum, Any Pro Action stuff,
Dart, World Products Edelbrock, Brodix, AFR etc.

All of these heads can be bought bare or fully assembled.

Any of these heads would out power your combination with
even the most basic camshaft. Even on a 350.

Always buy the best head you can afford, when planing a performance buildup.

Like said, those head #s are horrible heads. Do yourself a favor, either plan on replacing them, or get a motor that has some decent heads.

I agree with this take on the heads. The 383 is a larger air pump than an 350. You will need more air than those heads will provide.:hail:

Yeah its 3700 canadian.
I was talking to a guy that part owns the best performance shop in town and he didnt seem to impressed either. He said that a guy at the shop will make me a 355 that will put out that much power for about half the price. I am gonna go and talk to this guy later on, ill get all the numbers for the 355 soon.

Thanks
