My car is screwed, help me!

I have a 91 Z28 camaro with a 305 t.p.i. It is competley stock with 139,000 on it except a custom ram air, folwmaster cat back, 160* thermostat, and a hypertech fan switch (on at 200). It is a 5-speed. My prolbem started all of a sudden when i was going to the movies. My car was running normaly and not acting funny when I went around a corner and got on it and i noticed that there was no power after about 2500 RPM. So Ishifted to second and got on it again and it did the same thing. When I get on it there is a LOUD wistling noise comming from the back passinger side. My dad is a mechanic and he looked at the car and can't find out whats wrong with it. Theres no exuast leak so i know thats not the noise. There is also a bad studder when i floor it. it never studdered before this. Ialmost think that it is gonna die when i floor it but then it picks up a little but still has no power and whistles pretty loud. I changed the fuel filter just because and there was no difference. i think it could be the fuel pump; but could the fuel pump go bad all of a sudden like the problem did. I am very **** about my car and I would notive if somethign wasn't working right but the car was running just fine. help me cause my dad and I have no idea what it could be. Sorry for the long post but theres alot of info. Thanks

Plugged cat convertor or muffler? Drop the exhaust off of the manifolds and see how it acts.

Most mufflers shops should be able to measure the external temp of the cat converter and tell if it's clogged or not.

Not sure how you're measuring exhaust flow to determine it's good.

Sounds like a stopped-up cat to me. That is almost exactly what my car acted like when the catalyst broke up, and all the pieces collected in front of the remaining undamaged part, and acted like a plug.

Check your exhaust. Nobody's going to tell you it's something else, if that's what it sounds like it really is. You should be able to take the cat off and look into it and see if it's screwed up.

It could also be fuel pump but the whistling sound still makes me believe exhaust is plugged.

I just had this same exact problem with my camaro (same year, RS, 5speed) as I was driving to San Diego. When you step on the gas, you have to give a lot of gas for it to grab and take off. What this problem is is the FUEL PUMP, located in the gas take of your car. Your exhaust will have to be dropped, and you need to get a new one put in. If it is exactly how you described it, I am almost certain it is the FUEL PUMP. Take care of it. I even changed the fuel filter like you did, but it wasn't the problem, its the FUEL PUMP (which is a bitch to get too). Ill bet the house on it.

Also, when checking to make sure its FUEL PUMP, check the cat, because you have to have the exhaust dropped anyway. Might as well check both things at once, for time saving and dollar saving. Correction, I meant GAS TANK, not take in previous post.

So i fixed it today and it was neither the fuel pump or the exuast, but the battery positive terminal was loose. All i did was tighten that up and it works now better than ever. Thanks for all the help guys you were great.
