Lower comp. needed, new heads?
Hi...
I think I'm going to blow my engine when I put on my 9 psi kit. So I'm thinking of replacing my 65 cc canfield heads with some 74 cc heads, any recommendations?
And what about to go for 220 cc heads? would it be a overkill?
/N.

I may be wrong, but I believe there are some guys on the Power Adder board that run only that much psi with compression above 9:1 or so.
I wouldnt' go with 220cc heads, unless you plan on revving that motor above 6500rpms, which that much cc will kill your low end. Also, unless you have like at least probably a 383, if not a 400ci motor.

Y not intercool your blown hi compression motor.
You make more pwer and save money replaceing pistons and heads.
All serious powered supercharged motors are intercooled.

9 psi, I think I have 10,4:1 now in comp. I'll have to talk to my engine builder to be sure. I know LT1 have 10.5:1 and run 6-9 psi so I'll probably be fine with my setup..........

You can easily lower the cr of your motor as much as nessessary by shaping and de shrouding the combustion chambers of your present heads. There is loads of meat there to do this. You'll pick up some flow too.
