Wtf!!

Someone please help.... my 86 firebird is having a problem. It seems that whenever i hit 10 mph the car feels like its downshifting or braking by itself. It will start to slow down and then accelerate again. Anyone know what the problem could be. My tranny was just serviced 3 weeks ago and it has new torque converter bolts so i dont think its one of those two.

tranny trouble

I think you might have a tranny problem its logical since you just had it serviced check the owners manual and check the tranmission fluid level. When it was serviced did they tell you of anything being wrong with it? could be that the new torque converter isnt engaging the pump correctly.

when my tranny was serviced they said it was working like new and wouldn't need rebuilding which is what i thought was wrong but turned out to be the torque converter bolts. If the torque converter pump isnt engaging would that be something the tranny shop messed up?

Its very possible the they could have done something to mess it up.....did you have this problem before? If not I would start pointing fingers that way.

That thought never crossed my mind but now that i think of it, its very possible. I never had this problem before i took it there for the troque converter bolts. When i got the car back i did notice a couple little things, like shifting from park to drive the car would make a clanging noise from the rear end followed by a jolt foward. Also every once in a while, from a full stop, when i would give it gas to accelerate, the car would make this LOUD metal grinding noise coming from the rear end. If these idiots did mess something up with my tranny, anyone know how i can prove it so im not stuck with the bill for a rebuilt tranny? Also now my car wont go into park, reverse, or neutral so its stuck in OD with the key in the ignition and the E-brake on to keep it from rolling away. Anyon have this problem before???

I'd advise you to PM transfixleo or Probuiltautomatics. they should be able to help you.

sounds like shifter cable needs adjustment..
you should take these questions in the tranny boards, but sounds like the shop may have messed some stuff up..

Also....it almost sounds like your tranny mount is broken. Just from the clanking sounds you stated. I'd just check it while your at it anyways. They only cost $13 at napa.
