Anytime you can keep the oil from adding additional weight/drag to the rotating assembly, your freeing up ponies, I can't say as if I ever remember seeing a dyno report on just adding a windage tray, but Hot Rod mag. always pushes the Mildon oil pan with built in windage tray and claims it's worth up to 20 hp, I installed the Moroso windage tray and oil pump block on my short block, requires a little grinding to fit inside the 7 qt. pan I bought though, did it free up some hp?...I don't know, but, it probably did'nt hurt anything though for the few measily bucks it costs. I kick myself in the rear for not getting the crank scraper, but oh well. Once this motors goes then we can add more goodies to the new short block later since this kinda stuff is reusable. Alot of guys install the lifter valley breather tubes to keep the oil from wrapping around the cam as well, by only letting the oil go through the front and rear oil galley. Need to have the bare block though, as you have to tap the bores to thread in the breather tubes.
