Starting problems...shoild i buy?

Ok. I found an 87 z/28 carbed 350 for 550 bucks. Ive tried on 3 seperate days to start this vehicle. The battery was dead, so i charged that. The starter is fine, i can hear it do its "turning". However i cannot get the damn engine to kick over and start.
Its fairly cold outside, and its been sitting for at least a month. I tried sparying some of that "engone start" diethyl alchohol into the carb, and tried but it diddnt work. I tried adding gas to the tank, that diddnt work. the carbeurator is not frozen. I am thinking that the feul lines are frozen, and the engine just isnt getting gas. im really not sure, but this car is cherry. Does this mean something drastic, or do you guys know of any tricks to get the damn thing runnng...Help me please

Check for presence of spark. With a start fluid even if the fuel line froze it should fire and rather quickly. Look for moisture under the dist cap, otherwise just normal troubleshooting should apply.

if it doesn't start with starting fluid fuel isn't the problem. have you done any trouble shooting? checked for spark or codes?

Ill go ahead and check under the dist cap for moisture, if its not that, i really dont know how to check for spark, and i really dont know what the general troubleshoot steps are. The guy said the car was taken for echeck like 2 months ago, and someone else wanted to buy the car about 1 month b4 and he said it started right up. IM thinking that this is just related to the cold...Blah. any other tips for me?

Just pull one of your plugs, connect the wire to it and have someone crank it while you hold the plug. LOL!!! Just kiddin man dont do that. Is the car even trying to start, or is it just crankin and crankin and never even acting like it is trying??? HOw much starting fluid did you use???

All im hearing is the starter turning over. Its like the engine isnt even in the bay, no noise, but it rocks back and forth like the inards of the motor are rotating, or is that just the starter? but again. the engine makes no noise. No audible attempt at starting.

I used a short burst of that diethyl alchohol spray. i tried it twice 10 minutes apart.

Might take quite a bit to prime it. I started a honda for a lady, it really surprised me. It took more than just a short burst, it took quite a bit to get it to work. But first, check and make sure you are getting spark. Get a test light and start with your ignition coil and work your way back if you have power there. I fixed an escort that just had the plug on the coil wrong. They guy had put a coil on the car, and when he plugged it in the spade bent sideways instead of going in the hole. But the coil is a good place to start, that way you can go forward if it is working, or toward the rear if it is not.
