Which head-gasket: Fel-Pro or stock-GM?
Subject pretty much says all...
I've got to put new head-gaskets on my L98, and I'm curious about what I should get. I know that everybody and their cousin uses Fel-Pro; I know that Fel-Pro does some "tricks" with the size of the coolant holes in the gaskets. However, I figure that GM probably knows their engines better than anyone else; the GM gaskets that were on there lasted >~160K miles. Personally, I'm trying to go for reliability/longevity here, and I'd love it if I could get another 160K miles out of this engine after I get it running (it's been rebuilt)...
Thanks

i use the GM 14096405 it is .028" thick. raises compression ratio about .5 thinnest composite gasket you can get.
I have always used Fel Pro and they are good gaskets. I've never popped one if used on a flat deck with flat heads. Not even on nitrous.
However, I'm trying the GM gasket mentioned above in my blown 383 for the first time. SHould have it running again in a few weeks.
