Ultradyne Cam Recommendations
Ultradyne Cam Recommendations
hey guys i need help finding a cam for my motor.
this is what i have:
355 with ross flat top pistons, 6 inch eagle hbeam rods.
studded bottom end with stock crank,
Edelbrock 23* victor jr heads, ported and polished flow approximately
315 @ .625 lift
220 @ .625 lift
victor jr intake
800 cfm carb
3500 ish stall
3.73 rear gear
3500 lb car.
i want this motor to pull hard to 7500 rpm, want a fair idle (lenient) ive been looking at cams ground on 109* lobe separation.
i will spray a 250 shot on this car. but the most important thing is how it runs on motor.
a buddy of mine recommended ultradyne, ive had good experience with comp, but he is REALLY fast.
adam
Ultradyne guys, tell me what you think.

that is why im looking for ultradyne recommendations,
the guy who recommended them, happens to run 8s on motor, thats fast enough to make me give it a little thought.
ive seen what comp and crane have and can do, along with some other manufacturers.

I know people who work there, I would trust them.
Like ede said, we all develop our "preferred" supplier for whatever reason; but alot of the top grinders have really competent people working for them, and can do a good job.
At least find out what they recommend. Given your combo, they probably won't spec something that will spin that high and still make meaningful power. I doubt you'll get to make more than a couple of 7500 RPM passes at least before that crank lets go though, I'd keep it below 6500 it I were you.

Not a real wise experiment.
I can tell you what it will do after a few 7500 RPM blasts.... it will break. Right in front of the #1 rod journal.
Just hope it doesn't take any of those expensive parts around it when it does, or you'll need a whole lot more than just a better crank.

Have you called them? I think they're in either Horn Lake or Southaven MS, about 300 yards from Memphis, area code 662 IIRC. I haven't seen anybody from there on this BBS giving cam recommendations lately, so it could be a while before you get one this way.
