Block question, and parts recommendations?
Block question, and parts recommendations?
How much power is too much power for a 1 piece rear seal 350 block? A junkyard guy near here said he'll sell me a perfectly good 350 block for 100 bucks. Of course, said block would be checked, checked and rechecked before I actually built into it!
I'm leaning towards this setup right now: Eagle crank, Fastburn heads, HotLT4 cam, 1.6rr (Crane Gold?). Pistons & rings, rods and all of the bearings are still up in the air, any good recommendations?
I'd like to peak around 5500 or 6k RPM, with room to go past if necessary. I'm aiming for 400-450 hp (as to hit 500+ with a 100ish shot of haha).
Thanks!

Oh, yeah. Stealthram intake, efi.
Cam specifics are still lost on me, but when I put the hot lt4 cam with fastburns on my engine in Desktop Dyno the power peaked at a pretty nice spot at a pretty nice level. Like 440 @5500, I think, it's saved on my other computer but I'm feeling dreadfully unmotivated atm :sillylol:

i'd say for the most part, you have a decent combo. stick with the fastburns, you'll like them. as for the block, there is no power number that they are limited to exactly, but your combo should be no problem with it. i'd recomend main studs and splaying it if you can afford it. main studs being a minimum.
If not fastburns, what would you recommend as far as head/cam for my HP goals?
Also- what are some good brand internals that'll hold that sort of a beating? I've been thinking Keith Black pistons, but honestly I have no clue when it comes to brands of rods, rings, bearings or bolts. Most I've looked at are only advertised for engines "up to 450hp." I'd like to build it stronger than "strong enough" just for security's sake, I'm working on running my 3rd Chevy SB into the ground heh

Sound just fine to me, except the Stealth Ram won't even cover the ports on the FastBurn heads. Their intake runners are in a different place than older motors (raised - "Vortec" = GM trade name for "raised ports").
A 2-bolt block is fine at the HP level that the Stealth Ram will support, whichi is around 425 HP max. That's well within the block's limits. Keep the RPMs below 6500.
