01 Z28 Cutting out...
91 Z28 Cutting out...
I have a 91 Z28 Convertible with *supposedly* a 350TPI (just bought last week, haven't had time to check with my own eyes) but for practical purposes right now, let's just say it's a 305. Sometimes when I'm out driving, it'll start acting up in such a way that it just seems like for a few seconds the engine is NOT running at all, there's no throttle response, RPM's drop, I feel/hear no exhaust, or anything of that nature. I checked fuel filter, cap and rotor, and the plugs. After a while, or if I let it sit for about 30 minutes, it'll start driving fine again. When it is acting up, it doesn't just do it for a few seconds and then start running fine again either, it will cut out, regain power, cut out, regain power....and so on. It's not just momentary skips either like a miss. It's actuall full second length or longer bursts of no engine sound/action whatsoever. Any help would be appreciated.
BTW, the fuel pump is a new Walbro, so it's not cutting out.
Could my Ignition Module be going bad possibly?

The symptoms sounds alot like when my six of my injectors were bad, but for me, it would either run fine or really bad.
Any type tank. Happens usually after the car is at operating temp, but not necessarily hot. It has a 160 stat. I'm going to change to a 180, but not for that reason. It'll happen at 160 or 220, or wherever the temp happens to be.
What's a stall feel like? I know that's a stupid question, but I've never had a car stall. It LITERALLY feels as if the engine is not running whatsoever. It doesn't even SOUND like it's running.

DO you lose your power acessories? Like steering and brakes? If the car is stalling the brakes will become very hard to push in and the steering wheel will become hard to move. Not to mention you will have to turn it over to get it to start agian.

sorry to hear
i ran into the same situation just the other day........
me and my wife went to find her a car.... we looked for a while and finally found a 98 ford contoour that had 100,013 miles... but it looked and ran like a 50,000 mile car, real solid.... we i took it for a test frive and even laid the hammer to it... it shifted perfectly and everything was right on......
she bought it and i drove about thirty miles going towards home and it started bucking and missing and just ****ing up... i figured it need a tune up so we stopped at an autozone and bought her one... just so happens that they did a code scan there as well.... they didn't find anything..... went up the road after we left and bam... check engine light..... it had the numer 1 cyl missfireing.... i threw her new wires on and it was fine.....
you'd be suprised what a tune up can do for a car...... and that sounds like what yours needs
