I kind of have that problem with my Vette. I found it to be the weather stripping on the upper-forward part of my door.
Make sure all your weather stripping is not old and hard.
I think GM recommands using Die-Electric grease to condition.

I had the same problem when my car was brand new. I actually saw water drip down the passenger side door panel. There was so much scotch-guard on the carpet the water would actually form a puddle.

I wound up using RTV in all the spaces where the weather stripping went along the window & T-tops.

I never completely stopped the leak. Now I only get a few drops when it rains real hard.

Well that opens a whole ****box of possibilities. T-top cars are prone to body flex. If your parked on a hill, or at an angle then the car will flex and leave many spaces between the t-top seals and the tops. This will allow water to enter very easily. Also the weather stripping in that area can get worn out, so that also may be a problem. Try vasoline around all the seals for the tops. It helped me out a great deal....and believe it or not, so did the subframe connectors I installed a while back.

my father had an 84 z28 with t-tops.
he had a psoblem where water would leak into the drivers he was bnever around to find out where it leaks from so he line the car in paper towels(just in hat area and soaked the car with the hose for about 2 hours until she leaked.

it was in his t-tops but would leak threw the part where the gauge pillar was. and threw the dash pod and into console and of the clutch, never leaving a trace of where it came fom. he put new weather srtipping with some rtv and she neva leaked again

What? Rain for three days in a row?

Dude - not a flame, but you'd probably totally freak if you lived in the midwest. 30 days of rain is called "spring". Then there's the 105° and 98% humidity for a month straight ("summer"). Then winter for the other 10 months. -35°F and 40MPH winds, just to wake you up in the morning...

Anyway, if you're lucky the seals are not damamged, but only dried. The key is to remove the top inserts, then clean and dry everything thoroughly. Inspect the skin of the top seals. If everything is intact, apply silicone to all the rubber seals and allow it to work in a bit before installing the top inserts. Don't forget the end seals at the 'A' pillar and rear of the door opening. If the seals are abraded through, you'll probably need to replace them to establish a good seal. If the body has flexed from excess torque and hard launches/cornering, you may have some alignment problems that only a frame shop can cure.

The cleaning and lubrication of the seals is supposed to be part of normal scheduled maintenance, along with the cowl seal, hatch, and door seals. You should also clean and silicone the body mount bushings and rubber suspension bushings and snubbers as per the factory schedule. It's in MY service schedule, but I'm amazed at how few people actually ever follow that.

Everyone always jumps to the T-Tops are leaking, which may or may not be the case. Anyhow, I used to get a puddle in the same place you are talking about (passenger side right?). It turns out that after years of dust, dirt, leaves, etc. piling up underneath the HVAC Blower Motor caused the firewall to start rusting out. Its a very good place for stuff to accumulate, and you cant really see it to clean it out. I just so happened upon it when I was removing all the HVAC components in the engine bay. That leak had me baffled for a couple of years, sealing after sealing of the T-Tops and still no fix. It seemed like it would only happen during heavy rain also. Somehow the rain got down there and leaked in so...

Theres one place you can check, like I said it may or may not be the T-Top's, I'm just trying to give you some ideas. Being that its an 84, that could be it, just look in the engine bay, underneath the dash where the heater core is, pull the carpet down and inspect.

Also, like Vader said, keep all of the seals treated and maintained for longer life. I've learned to listen to him.

Hope this helps.

Being somewhat of an older thirdgen, it could be the windshield seal as well. My 84 used to leak from the top of the windshield seal on the passenger side. It sounds like you said you found the problem though, so I guess I'm just putting this down for future reference.

Dang, this is a post from the dead. 5 years ago lol. I can barely remember the old 86 IROC.

Anyhow, it seems I was making sense back then, try checking where I explained. Good luck.
