What's a 305 X .060"?

What's this come out to in cubes? I know a guy I won't name who thinks his sixty over 305 is "boreded out to a 355"

I guess that's why the Monte Carlo it's in has three lugnuts on each front wheel from the 170mph top speeds he claims out of it.

that'd be about a 313

its not physically possible to bore a 305 block to the 4.03 bore needed for a 355

sounds like a bunch of

without checking the calculation, i believe it's 315 that it comes out to. a 305 will go .060 over, it just isn't recomended.

I bought a reman 305 motor for my car a few years back. When I went to put some better heads on, I found it had .060 over pistons in it. I've abused the thing to death (nitrous) since and it's still going strong. And yes it's a 315.

.060 would technically be a 316, wouldn't it? I got 315.737 .. and the numbers are usually rounded, aren't they? anyway, even if you did that and stroked it, it'd only come out to a 340..

oh, and I've come to realize that a LOT of people don't know what overboring means... since it's usually called "sixty over" instead of "point oh-six over" or something like that, they probably figure it's a 305 with 60 extra cubes.. although, that still wouldnt' come out to 355.. so who knows..

Well I knew it was BS and that .060 doesn't add fifty cubes, and being that it was my mother in law's boyfirend I had to be nice and smile. That and he got forged pistons for a hundred bucks for the whole set. And with the "L-debrock" 750 on the stock intake (with an adaptor) he's pumpin' out "four hunnert and seventy fahve horses" through the stock LG4 manifods, unless they are the original 267 manifolds that came with the car!
Which contradicts the ORIGINAL story that the car had a big block in it when he got it......

In any case, I just wanted to share and amusing story with everyone. He actually is a pretty nice guy and the BS stopped once he realized I knew enough to know he couldn't BS me on this stuff.

Lets not mention the tasteful "***, gas or grass, nobody rides free" stickers between the giant "Edelbrock equipped" stickers and the Earnhardt stickers covering every square inch of glass, the four shades of primer (right over the window moldings) the doors that have no interior panels, ah, need I go on?

Anyway for some reason the BS stories have stopped once he realized he couldn't BS me as I knew better.

I'm glad my wife doesn't see this post, she gets all PO'ed when I make fun of the guy. One of those "it's OK for me to bash my family but you can't" things.
