Mellings oil pumps

Getting ready to order my oil pump.
What is the difference between the
Melling M55 and the M55A?
Is it just the "Z-28" spring?
The M55A costs twice as much.. (at Summit anyway)

Also, can I use my stock pick-up tube with the Mellings M55A pump?

That's it... just the spring. Get Mr Gasket part # 26, it's the same spring, it will give the same 55psi or so intead of the M55 35 psi.

Don't do that. Get a new one. Melling part # 55-S.

Put a shaft with a metal collar in it.... the plastic ones have been known to fail.... Melling part # IS-55E.

Cool!
Can't find the Melling pick-up or pump shaft in either the Jegs or Summit catalogs.

Where else should I be looking?

Thx..

Just got back from the auto parts store. Picked up a M-55 pump, a IS-55E drive shaft and a oil pick-up tube.
The MR Gasket #26 spring is on order.

Noticed that instead of the 55-S pick-up tube I got a 55-S1.
Went to the Mellings site and found the the 2 pick-ups.
Unfortunately, all they have are pictures and no tech data.
What's the difference? Is one for a deeper sump oil pan?
The tube appears to be bent slightly different between the 2.
I'll be using the stock oil pan from a 87 GTA L-98 eng.

Exactly, it's the sump depth.

The S-1 is wrong. The S fits these pans.
