350's arent that...

well i was talking to a friend of mine and remembered the 350 he had, paid him the $50 he wanted for it, when and threw it in the back of my truck,

so i get home tonight at 11:25pm, lift it out onto my hand truck to find out both wheels have no air in them, so it wont go no where, so i had to carry the f**k**g thing into my garage which is a good 50 ft to where it now sites on my garage floor, out of the way. go inside and clean up before my parents see me all greasy like usual, tell them i had to do a few things before i came inside.

im not too strong but i caried that dam thing that far and didnt get my clothes dirt also.

plans for it, PAW performance Forged Steel bottom end, and everything else off my 355 in my car now, but a new cam.

Lemme see here....

I would guess the block is 175lbs or so.

Shipping weight on a 350 is something close to 600lbs.

If you actually did lift that thing, I am positive your nuts would shoot off your piece and left a crator in your driveway.

a shortblock isn't that bad... I'd be guessing like ~350+ lbs which isn't that outrageous really to lift. Yea ya dont just bend over and pick it up automatically but I've more than a couple times had to carry one with the jackstand attachment on it and plug it into the rest of the jackstand.

The biggest problem I have is not power, but where to grab it from.

(I was reffering to a crate motor from SDPC's shipping weight.)

Good gloves gripping the engine stand attachement(part that bolts to the block) and just the opposite side of the block or attaching an aluminum water pump works well. Hahaha, we're giving tips on how to carry a shortblock now which is kinda dumb... Only reason I ever had to lift one was to get it off of or onto a truck bed and just cause some buddies were around and we were all being idiots.

well ive been lifting weights for 4 years now so im kinda strong, i just dont think so because of my trainer, shes this lil asian girl who benches double my weight with no problem and i weight 178lbs, anyways...

the block was in the back of my truck, i just threw in my arms into 2 cylnders and lifted, carried the thing into the garage and then went inside for the night, and my arms are tired as hell today.

I don't see whats so unbelievable about lifting a block. The machinist I go to has always worked by himself, and he has no problems moving the blocks around. Heck, I'm not that big and I didn't have any problems moving a Buick 3.8. Just put the arms in the cylinder and lift. I know thats lighter than a 350 though.

It's not that hard to move a block around. Especially if it's allready close to the right height, ie engine stand/pickup tailgate. Heck I was just the 130lb skinny guy in high school and once had to move my bare 396 block by myself... busted a nut but it was only 10ft.

actually witnessed a 165lb buddy mount a 454 block on an engine stand by himself. (no, i'm not that big of a d1ck, he just decided to do it when i was gone for 15 minutes to the store.

a small block can be done, especially the way squeak did it.

i actually think carrying a 400 turbo by yourself from the truck into the garage is worse......
