does anyone know if you can remove the CCV tube, and replace it with a breather?

Why would you want to do that? Do you just like having oil all over the top of your valve covers or something?

In any case, if you have a MAF car, no. All the air that passes through the crankcase has to go through the MAF first, and get incuded in the MAF's metering. That's why the CCV tube is behind the MAF, in front of the throttle body.

Yes you could do that.

Or, you could go to Auto Zone or Advance or wherever, and out on their aisles, they have the plastic line and fittings and all that. Makes a much more sanitary job than the much fatter rubber line.
