CODE 43 now what ?

HI ALL,

I have a 91 Formula TPI 305 and my SES flashed a code so I checked it reads 43 so I take it I have a CODE 43. In my book it says EST ECM related error so I am wondering if I have to start throwing parts at this thing yet ? The manual is very unclear about what to do next ?

The car runs fine until it warms up or is in closed loop then it occasionally loses ALL power under acceleration misfiring badly. The power comes back usually, but in jerking motions. If you let it sit for a few minutes it calms down and behaves ok until the next incident. My car has about 50,000 miles on it and is pretty much stock.

Any suggestions ? Would really appreciate some help !

Disconnect the EST bypass connector and see if the situation improves.

91,

The EST bypass connector is in the engine compartment, along the firewall. It is a single wire connector in a tan/black wire that should be near the HVAC blower motor:

Thx for the suggestion Vader I'll try it tonight. Also, I was checking my TPS last night, usually when I turn the ignition on without starting the car there is a buzzing from the TPI area that goes away after about 5-10 seconds. Last night it stayed on for about 20 minutes or the entire time it took to test the TPS. Does this mean anything ?

thx.

Hey Vader I tried disconnecting the connection as per your pic. The car did not want to run it sputtered, then died. I'd start it again and then it would die didn't get more than 10 feet. Once I put it back together the car ran but now shows a code 42 and code 43. I guess the 42 is to be expected. So I cleared the codes and the 43 shows up again after about 10 minutes driving.

thx.
