anyone with an Xtreme cam by comp cams

anyone running one of these cams? i have been looking at the 268 and the 274 for a while now and i was wondering if anyone has an opinion on these cams. what is the driveability, how do they sound? do they pull hard when you get on them? what is the rest of your setup (heads and such) and what is your best 1/4 time? thanks everyone for your time and info.

I'm running the XR269HR and like it so far. With a LTR setup, stock prom and stock converter in my 89 350 I was hitting low to mid 13's. I could drive the car everyday. Its very easy. MPG is good believe it or not. As for sound... It sounds great. It pulls hard at about 3000 and up

I have the XE274 , an RPM Air Gap intake, and a set of Pro Action heads. The cam is on the shelf, the intake is hanging on the wall, and the heads are sitting on the bench. Hopefully in a couple weeks I can be more help. From everything that I have read the guys running the 274 are real happy with it.

The Xtreme Energy cams are a great line of cams. The most popular setup is a 355 with Vortec heads, Performer RPM intake manifold and a XE274 cam. You can knock down low 12's with this combo when tuned correctly. It's also an inexspensive build too and puts out a little over 400 hp and 420 tq.

I had a XE274 for a while in my 400. With a set of double-hump heads, a Performer not RPM intake, and Edelbrock TES, it did 274 RWHP and 373 RW ft lbs. I later had a XR282HR in it; felt stronger, but I don't have numbers. Needless to say, the next time that motor goes back in the car, it gets a better intake and headers. I have a XR264HR in a 305 in it now, with another set of double-humpo heads (I know, i just had them laying around) and the stock intake and carb and every piece of the stock computer control stuff on it, it does about 210 RWHP and 282 RW ft-lbs which is well up into modded L98 land.

I've used the 266HR-14 (XTREME RPM) in an LT1 with no reprogramming and no problems. It now has a 276HR-14 and a few other changes, but no operational problems. There was a slight loss of low end with the second cam, but it was more than offset with extra torque that noticably comes in at around 2,800 RPM and stays there to 6,000.

With both cams, I noticed a bit more of the valve noise that was even apparent with the stock cam. I've grown accustomed to it. Most people can't even hear it. Then again, I can usually hear the injectors ticking as well.

I'm running the 268 Xtreme Energy Hydraulic and it pulls hard from 2000 rpm up. I have a 350 with vortec heads, Edelbrock performer rpm intake, and a 750 edelbrock carb.

I just installed an XE 230/236 112LSA hyd roller in mine....it's for an LT1 but I'm using it with my StealthRam. It pulls harder than my old setup and idles real nice . I hope to get good track numbers soon to back up my butt dyno. But I drive it everyday with no problems so far....great street manners.
