max hp and rpms

what is the maximum power and rpms for a stock 350 bottom end? i might be getting a 350 in a car and i'm not sure what it is. letfs say its an 87 2 bolt with a stock crank, rods, and pistons.

if i put in a better crank, rods, ect. how much would the 2 bolt be able to take?

what i'm trying to say i guess is how much would a stock 2 bolt take and what would the weakest points be?

In the latest Car Craft, there is a blown third gen Formula running tens on the stock bottom end. The power limit seems to vary among cars, but overall Id be more concerned with stock drivetrain durability than engine durability. If I were in your situation, Id set some power goals and go from there. Having four bolt mains isnt absolutely necessary, but if you are planning on making over 400hp, Id say its just good insurance.

Ive read 500hp on a 2bolt is about max...never experienced 500hp myself..but thats what Ive read..a lot depends on how high you intend to rev the motor.

i'm planning on getting to about 450-500hp at about 6000rpms. it will be a while, i need to build the drivetrain like you said first. put in a th-350 and 12 bolt maybe.

Would the 500 HP max also apply to a 305?

Well, I guess that would depend on how much $$$$ you have.
The 305 is still a Small Block Chevy. Just Has 3.735 bore and a 3.480 stroke a 350 has a 4.0 bore with the same stroke. Just less cubes...It is built the same..You can build the bottom end bullet proof just as the 350...add some twin turbos....Heck, we have a Buick Regal V-6 here in town Running 10.84 123.8mph.....
http://www.geocities.com/boostedbuick/...Now Just think what he could do with 2 more cylinders!

The possibilities are endless if you have the cash!!!!

That is some power.

But I am actually trying to find out what kind of power the stock bottom end can take?

Thanks.
