with my setup, how much hp should i get?

hey guys,

im gettin really excited, i've saved enough cash to finally replace my tired 305lg4 in my 86 camaro. im also gonna bolt on some other stuff too. heres a list, everything is brand new, except flowmaster:

1.brand new gm goodwrench 350 service replcement (i think she was rated around 250hp)
2.edelbrock TES headers
3.edlebrock performer manifold with egr
4.flowmaster cat back
5.staqe 2 jet chip
6.kn filter
7.sat. night special towque converter
8.dual snorkel air cleaner

*i had to leave the stock q-jet on and all the of californias smog crap on too.

so whatta ya'll think?

I think you'd be better off getting the 350 HO conversion/crate engine. It is a legal replacement in CA(EO #D-278) for 1982 - 87 Camaro's originally equipped with either the LG4 or L69.

It comes with everything you need to do the conversion(you supply stuff like the water pump and distributor from your old engine). Rated output is 308 hp @ 5000/ 365 lbs/ft @ 3500. Chevy claims this was enough to give an '87 Camaro a 13.83 @ 98 mph timeslip.

Check with your dealership for pricing. The p/n is 10185077. I think it will be cheaper and more powerful than the engine you are proposing.

... I would say around 250 HP...

------------------
1984 z28 w/ a 357 cu in. monster engine which is looking like the posterchild for Edelbrock... all the suspension stuff... 9-bolt posi disk is in... K&N filter... 93 octane...

I got the GO... I need the SHOW... Interior is next!

GM high performance magazine tested a 250 HP replacement engine with headers and intake manifold and pulled 262 hp at 4500 rpm.

You guys do realize that this post is 7½ years old, right?

Most likely, he's already got his new engine, and used that one up and got another, and maybe a few cars too...

It's great to use the search function; but it's a good idea to check the date on what you find. Also, check your "preference" settings, you may have them set to show OLDEST posts first, instead of NEWEST....
