I'm so confused on how this attaches? Here's a picture of it...anyone else running one of these?

The base has a bar that holds it down using the wing nut and a short stud ,the top is held down to the base with that wire retianer that you see in the picture. The filter is pure crap and flows less than a paper filter.

My friend bought that... and the damn thing melted and got sucked into his carborator. They are worthless. And I imagine they suffocate(sp?) the hell out of your engine.

My buddies '79 trans-am runs .4 seconds slower with that on than with a clean paper filter from Pep Boys...

It's crazy.... He has two of them and it defintely slows his car down...

Is there any way to adapt a good air filter in there? I'm not giving up just yet!

K&N makes triangular filters a little bigger than that, but nothing will fit that housing but a foam filter.

Those guys are right about that thing's performance. It's strictly a "looks" kind of part, not a "go fast" one. It's for street rods, you know, with a generic 350 with low-perf stock internals but all covered with chrome. Don't even bother.

man this sucks, but if RB and Evil (2 respected members of TG0) are saying it won't work I guess I'll be forced to go back to the other air cleaner.

Where do you guys get K&N 14x4 or 14x5? The Jegs and Summit websites show only stuff for imports and replacement filters?
