cams????

ok i need a good cam for an 91 or 92 camaro 305 buddy wants more power then the stock but not wanting to do heads or other mods right now this is mainly a street car but not primary transportation it also has the 5 speed.

i'd recommend him taking a look at summit's cams.. For 80 bucks, you get the cam and lifters with lube.

Those are hydraulic and since the 91 or 92 has a roller cam he doesn't need new lifters. LT1 cams are cheap and popular for 305s.

hey ive heard that lt1 cams are good how much work am i looking at trying to do it with the least amount of time money and work.

I would set aside a few days for this, as I take it it's your first time. The intake, carb, dist, valve covers, water pump, radiator, have to be taken off.

Try a searc on this board for cam installs, as you may get the exact directions that way.

You can pick up an LT1 cam for about $50 or so, intake and valve cover gaskets will run about $20 or so from Autozone, get Fel Pro.
You'll need more coolant for the radiator as well.

When you get gaskets get the felpro rubber ones. They are reusable and last forever. Also they are only a couple bucks more than the cork.

yes, the rubber gaskets are a life saver, i can attest to that. Much better then cork. In your case, though, the replacements for the center bolt valve covers should be neoprine to start with.

well thanx as far as setting time aside a few hrs one afternon is good the wife and i have had about 8 f-bodies including the ones we have now my 81z and her 2001 ws-6 and i have been an auto tech for 13 years so the labor part is not an issue i am just curious as to which cam to use prefferably without changing the chip at this time if at all possible.
