i wouldn't buy a loaf a bread, let alone a "375 horse" engine from anyone who made this statement:

Cylinder Head Casting #: 333882 (170cc intake runners, Outflow Camelhump "fuelies").

882 heads are among the worst heads ever to grace the top of a small block chevy. They are absolute garbage.

The heads on that motor stink.

That motor won't make 375 hp.

more like 340hp best. (And no torque)

You can build a better motor for less and go fast the first time.
instead of doing it twice.

build a flat top pistoned 10:1 355 with vortec heads and a performer rpm (vortec intake). use a 750cfm carb.
use a comp cams XE274H-10 cam.
have the block " 0decked" for the pistons so the flat top pistons
come right to the top. have the vortec heads machined for the correct valvesprings and screwin studs for that cam.
Willl make 415-430 gross hp 420ft/lbs torque.
use long tube headers and a big exhaust system with a custom made y pipe.

easy 12 sec times with a 3000 rpm stall and 3.73's.
About the best bang for the buck.

New motor

Well guys u think this with the trans above and maybe a 2200 stall could hit 12.9s with 3.73 posi nad some suspension work. It will have a 750 performer carb and hei dist.

And what u think this combo could get if u stayed out of it alot. U think u could get 14-15mpg

Seems like a good place to start would be to figure out what is most important to you, because that will determine your course of action. Do you want to:
  • Buy a motor off of e-bay? or
  • Buy something that has lots of good buzzwords in its description? or
  • Go as fast as possible for as little money as possible?
Those 3 options aren't necessarily the same thing.

e-bay is not a good place for a novice to buy anything, because the people doing the selling are pretty good at it, and they know how to get people with less knowledge or experience than themselves to pay top dollar for stuff that's exactly what their ad copy says, but isn't quite what the buyer wishes or thinks it is. That goes for everything on e-bay from chinesium tools to Cabbage Patch dolls to motors. It's about the purest "buyer beware" marketplace that has ever existed in the history of mankind.
