WTF is going on here???
I step on the gas, my foot is off the clutch pedal completely, the car revs, but doesn't catch. Then after I let off the gas enough, everything catches and if I accelerate slowly, everything is fine. But as soon as I step on it again, same situation. And I don't even have to mash it to the floor for this to happen. This is like anything over quarter throttle at once. I was thinking it had something to do with TPS misadjustment, but that didn't seem to work for me. And I just gave the car a good tune up: coil, wires, plugs, dist. & cap, etc.... What's going on here?

All the shifting is going fine as far as moving the shifer between gears. It's just that I step on the gas and it's like I'm in neutral.
i have the same prob, exept i will accelerate pretty fast with the gas pedal ALMOST floored, but as soon as i push it all the way, even if i do it slowly, my car kinda SLOWS DOWN like i let OFF the gas? only in 3rd, 4th, and 5th gear? maybe my carb needs to be adjusted?
Can't be the cable 'cause there is no cable. 82-83 used mechanical linkage, 84-on is hydraulic.
Anything else going wrong would prevent the clutch from disengaging, the opposite of your problem.
Looks like you're replacing a clutch.

My favorite clutch test:
Take off and shift from 1st to 3rd at a low speed and floor it. If the motor revs and it don't bog...you need a clutch.

Son of a beyatch. I could really go without this right now. Oh well. It might as well happen now when everything else is being replaced.

Silly, the other guys are right, you need a clutch. Not what you want to hear, but think of it this way: you get the opportunity to improve your car a little. Get a Centerforce Dual Friction, it's smooth as silk when you are in bumper-to-bumper traffic, but hooks up like a piece of metal when you stand on it.
radiaki, the carb is a good guess in your case; sounds like the secondary air valve spring is too loose. Tighten it p in 1/9 turn increments and see if that doesn's help it.
