custom intake manifold on tpi
custom intake manifold on tpi
i am seriously considering a custom f.i. intake on my 406 just for kicks and to have the option to completely taylor the runner volume and length to my cars needs. also i could do alot of the work myself with parts i have laying around my garage.here is my plan:::
tunnelram base with the very bottom of the top section of the tunnel ram attached to it.on top of that a sheet metal box with the bolt pattern for the throttlebody in the same spot as stock. i know i could have the base drilled for the injectors and i would have to figure out the fpr mount but what else, could i use the stock fuel rails just backwards? so they would be outside

Weiand has an intake you might be able to use. I made a small efi page. check it out. also the tunnel ram base intake was used in a 1000hp twin turbo sbc in Turbo magazine. it had a sheetmetal intake with a huge mustang throttelbody http://members.tripod.com/GRK_Taz/efi.html

good page tas it helps. zbra the lt1 rails are a great idea. so what do you guys think of this sort of intake? it will have longer runners than an lt1 but not like tpi either. also itwill flow more than either one
has anyone done this sort of thing?
also, what will i need to make the thing all work?? i am only thinking that i will need a place to mount the throttle body and fpr and im all set is that correct. i know about drilling the holes for the injectors too but that seems easy enough for a machine shop. what would the cost be on this work?

Finally, someone thinks like i do, mo horse for less money. Well i have the same idea but for a normal manifold converted to fuel injection, i am going to use a torker II manifold. Also, doing the conversion is usually around $200 if you only want the bungs for the injectors welded in, or usually around $400 for bungs, fuel rails, and the ends tapped for fuel line.
well, is what i need done is the bosses drilled for the injectors and a sheetmetal box made on top of the tunnelram base to act as my plenum so that i can hook my throttlebody up to it and maintain all the stock linkage. i want it to maintain stock type dimensions as far as where the things hook up to it and all. i figured 500 or so for it all. i just wonder if i will be able to squeeze my fuel rails on there or if i will need to use some lt1 rails or what. also i have to maintain my stock cpu setup or i am getting out of my league.
