camshaft seletion...

Current mods on the 305 w/ 700r4:
headers, y-pipe, & flowmaster catback,
edelbrock performer intake,
high flowing airfilter,
q-jet w/ Ck-rods & B-hanger...
what i plan to do next,
3.73 gears & corvette servo w/ boost valves...
my question is in the camshaft selection...
i want to keep my camaro streetable (some low-end torque),
but also want to rev it a little higher for more power...
What cam shaft would be better?
1. 194 - 204 112 LSA (similar to the CHP build-up)
2. 204 - 214 112LSA
3. 209 - 209 110 LSA

Here's my honest opinion. As many times as I've seen this question, I figured I'd start replying. Call Comp Cams.

While the knowledge on this board is very great. People here are very smart, and for the most part can help you greatly. But when your talking about cams, why not ask a company that knows them better than anyone else. They have people setup to do exactly what you are asking.

So when your ready to order your cam, give them a call, and you'll get a great cam.

Well assuming you don't have a roller block, i would go with a Comp XE-262-12 or the regular XE-262-10

It is MUCH better to do the heads at the same time as the cam. Do your stock heads according to the instructions linked at the end of my sig. I agree with ME; XE262 with 3.73 gears would be the hot ticket. But if you are roller, then try a GM LT1 cam. Cheap on eBay, like $50 or so and just right for a nice 305.

Out of the three you listed I would say #2 if they are your only options.
Good Luck!

Call Comp. They are paid to tell you what cam will give you the best power.

what i would get... is the the COMP 302... its a 210/220 on a 112... i think .480/.480 lift... i know a guy who ran this cam in his iroc w/ stock heads... sounded great, and ran strong... he didn't get it to the track cause he spun a bearing... but i think he dynoed at like 270 or so...

All engine combos are different, just because it works on one motor doesnt mean it will on another. Call Comp.

i also agree on calling comp.

or hell, even try calling summit racing. they pay these people to help you select the cam that is right for your application. plus, they'll be in the know about changing any other valvetrain hardware that may be needed to be changed.
