Take a look at my "new" messed up block
Well here my oil burning problem. I thought it was as simple as changing rings when I pulled it out. To my surprise... I see big hole in the cylinder wall, carved by the wrist pin. It looks like it slid out and scractched the hell out of my cylinder wall. The wall is so thin now, the block is trashed. Anyway... here's some pics

Any comments on using a 92 truck block with supposedly vortec heads on it ? I'm not gonna be using the heads.. just the block. It's only 100 bucks so I cant pass it up. hehe

I'll personally vouch for a truck motor working in a Camaro. I blew up my L98 and found a 350 from a truck for only $50. Just swap over all the sensors and everything. I dropped it in, everything matched up and it runs great!! If you have any questions let me know but the blocks are just about identical as far as I could tell.
Go Hokies!!!

Damn, I havent seen that before!! That is pretty wild looking.
Vortech heads on a 92?? Did someone put them on there?? I thought Vortech heads came later, in 95 up trucks
Truck blocks are great, and it should be a 4 bolt block(most came with them)

C'mon over to my place, I have a sister to your block....although I have 6 cylinders that look like that
I think the idiot who pressed the pins in thought he'd make an easier job for himself and open up the holes in the pistons...least that's what I'm figuring happened on mine..only had 3K on the block...

Where are you at? I am trying to sell my original L98 out of my '91 for $250, but I don't want to ship it. It has no damage and has never been bored. It is disassembled though. I pulled it in favor of a ZZ4. It is the motor only. No intake, sensors, accessories, distributor, etc. Let me know if you are interested. I am in Baton Rouge, LA.

The engine was assebled by Spartan (bough it from Checker auto parts). I believe they were pressed in. Now they wont warranty it because it has a different cam in it...
