Fuel Pump went...any easier way to do this?

i heard some people talking about "cheating" and cutting out a section in the hatch in order to reach the intank fuel pump. I am contemplating this and wanted to ask 2 things...#1 anyone have a diagram on where to cut? and #2 is this a good idea??? also how long should it take if i do it this way?. thank you

Nikki

I think I read somewhere that some people were just running an inline fuel pump that could draw through the defective one. I'll have to see if I can find that article somewhere.

Here's a few discussions on this.

Check these links out. You can also search for "Inline Fuel pump", and you should get a few hits here. Good luck. I know it's not much fun either way.

There's nothing wrong with cutting the floor. IMO it's actually smart...why?

I've had 2 pumps fail on me and because I had it done the 'right' way I lost a ton of money.

i would just drop the tank and do it that way, i would also clean out the gas tank real good most likely paint it while its out and do other misc. stuff in that area.

if your gonna cut a hole to get to it, make it like a door panel u can pull off and put back on so if you ever need to do it again you can and the car is less "hacked up". i would personally do it the right way and drop the tank but making a door for it would be pretty sweet.
