Bought a TTA!!!!

I just bought it this morning. I think I probably have the highest mileage of any others...159,000! The first owner drove it like a daily driver (didn't take care of it) to work (200 mile round trip) every day for 9 years. Second owner bought it a couple years ago and put 7K on it. Now I have it.

What should I do first? The intercooler was flushed about 5K ago. It blew the intercooler hose off twice on the way up here. Where can I get new hoses? The two things I know it needs are a hatch motor and an intercooler shroud.

Any other TTA owners here?

I bought it in New Orleans for $5200. It neesd a lot of work (seats, intake shroud, paint, door skins (maybe), t-top gaskets, spoiler, etc. etc....but so far the only problem has been blowing the intercooler hose off.

Did you end up doing a major resto on this car or did you use it as a driver too? In the last few months I have seen a few very worked TTAs and unfortunately then have ended up being parted. I was just wondering if yours met the same fate or if it was brought back!

someone fed you a lot of BS if what you say is right

hmm 48 weeks or so , 5 days a week , 9 years , 200 miles a day.

48*5*9*200 = 432000 miles

+ 7000

---------------------------------------
439000 miles

you sure they didn't roll it back by about 300grand ? lol

Yes.

I wanted to see what happened with the car and if he did the restoration or drove it as a daily driver etc. It would not make much sense to ask him a month after he bought it if the restoration was started/completed etc. I was just curious what the fate of this TTA was when I was reading through some of the older posts.

Is there a time limit on replying? I thought as long as it was still available to read it was ok to reply unless the thread was locked.

So, what ever did happen with this car? Has it been restored because if it has I would like to talk to the owner. I am thinking of restoring one myself and I heard some of the parts are hard to find.
