Everytime i fix this car, something new breaks down... anyway, here's my problem now, and I'm looking for a little insight into it. First off, often now when i try to start the car, it cranks but doesnt catch, and you can hear something spinning pretty loudly afterward. I can get the car to start if i give it some gas while i'm turning the ignition, and after that I have to drive with a foot on the gas and a foot on the brake or the car will cut off completly when I come to a stop. Even if the car starts on its own(which is getter more rare everyday), it will still cutoff sometimes when i come to a stop, or even while i'm still coasting, but have my foot off the gas. Any idea's what that could be? Thanks.

Have you made any adjustments to the fuel system? Air filter ok? Fuel pump okay? Idle could be way too low. Sounds like your car isn't getting enough fuel whatsoever. Your fuel filter could be clogged too.

 

fuel pump was replaced about 2 years ago, and I changed my fuel filter last summer, I'm not the best with cars, so I do not know how to do all to much by myself, I can do even less since I'm down at school with my car, I was kind of just hoping to get a good idea of my problem before I take it to a shop, so they don't try to rip me off.

 

have them check the fuel filter.. it sounds like it's not getting enough gas..

also, it sounds like it's not getting enough air too..

does your car seem like it's having a problem moving when youo do get it going? Smell funny?

 

seems to run ok when i get it going, but i do occassionally get some smoke out of the exhaust and have a gas smell at startup
