anything past halfway and the pedal stays down when i let off. what with that?

The obvious.......Throttle return spring??

You didn't say if it was carbed or F.I.

The not so obvious......I've recently seen a third gen that the floor mats were bunched up by the pedal.

Pedal would stick about half way down.

What engine do u have and does it stay down if u floor it??

 

lg4, and yeah. id have to sorta hit it hard to get it to stay. basically, if i go farther than halfway, and i dont go real slow and gentle like, it stays down.

 

man i had the same problem with mine, that was scary as hell, i got a modified 305/5 speed i floored it and that puppy revved, i had to slam it again to get it back, i checked my throttle return spring and everything but it doesnt do it anymore, i sprayed some carb cleaner on all the linkage and the cable
