I used a bolt on my intake. Mine had the big hole where the large water neck is and two small holes on either side. One goes to the heater core, the other is plugged with a bolt with RTV black sealant put into the threads. No leaks yet.

I'll probebly use a bolt with RTV and see what happens. If it leaks I will go with the pipe plug Thanks

40-cent pipe plug, 10-cent bolt, $160.00 intake manifold...

Yeah, I guess risking damage to the $160.00 manifold is worth saving 30 cents. (NOT!)

(I can't believe anyone even had to answer this question!) If you were stuck on the interstate somewhere between Timbuckthree and Nowheresville, I'd say it might be a good option to get you moving. But it appears that you're in your driveway, so the choice is a real no-brainer.

I'm w/ede & Vader - the threads are different, and pipe threads are tapered. Use a brass plug (rather than black or galvanized steel) with Teflon sealant or tape on the threads. You'll probably have better luck finding the plug at a hardware store than you would at a parts store.

I am going to detroit this weekend...i feel like i should sneek over and install a brass pipe plug just so i dont ever have to read about it on this board when you get stuck or wonder why your car wont idle, etc....
