Anyone have a problem with AFR heads burning oil?
My car must be burning oil because it's losing about a quarter quart every 500 miles and I don't see any drips anywhere. Has anyone had a problem with the valve seals on their AFR heads?? If not then I guess I have to look at my piston rings?? How do I differentiate between the two possibilities? Also the engine only has 5,500 miles on it.

Ede my brain could be fried from studying all dayfor my securities license, but I don't understand your reply. What do you mean no valve seals? Also I only said a quarter of a quart....and it might even be less than that. Please clarify.
Thanks
Thanks
My AFRs (190s with 2.02/1.60 valves, purchased fully assembled from AFR) have not shown signs of ANY oil past the guides. Far superior to my old Iron Eagles that ate oil past the guides pretty good even with fresh PC seals.

Paul, tell me you've done a leakdown test by now, please? My car is eating oil also and I know it's because my rings didn't seal properly. There's a slim to none chance it's your valve seals with brand new AFR's. LOL I've pm'd you a few times about this and really hope you do the LD test real soon. I really think this is your problem. Your bores may be way off, your ring endgap may be off, etc. Your car is missing about 20% of the power is should have, at least. Do the leakdown test even if you have to pay several $$$ to get it done, but get it done professionally. If you don't want to do this test, tear that SOB of an engine apart and have a qualified engine builder examine it to see what's wrong. You just can't have a perforance engine and not know what's going on with your ring seal. It's like pi$$ing in one hand and hoping in the other and seeing which one gets wet first.

Joe I have yet to do a leakdown test because I had no oil consumption problems for the first 3,000 miles. It seems as if it has only started since I went to synthetic about 2,500 miles ago. I will probably do a leakdown test soon though because I want to make sure everything is fine in the longblock assembly. I just have to try and find a friend with a gauge to use for it.

Yeah I'm still highly disappointed in the numbers too but I just started my new career and should have some money in the next month. I'm going to do my compression and leakdown tests to locate any problems in the longblock assembly (hopefully none) and then change to the LPE 219 and port my intake. Also another guy on the boards here who kicks a$$ at burning PROMs is going to help me so I should have it all worked out hopefully by August. I just have no time right now and really no ambition to have to dig all of my plugs out while the engine is hot to do the compression test.....it's going to be a huge PITA.
