I think those are the TBI swirl port heads. Same thing you have right now on your car. They flow just a little better than the head on a 5hp Briggs and Straton.

probably the tbi swirl port heads as rodney suggested.

they're junk.

if you want a set of 305 heads to port, look for a set of 14101081 castings, also commonly called 081 castings.

Well rjmcgee is correct, those are 305 swirl port heads, basically junk, unless you are planning a stock rebuild. You really cannot do much for them as in port work. I would keep looking as those will do nothing for your car, and are not worth spending any money on them at all. Sorry but facts are facts.

wouldn't the intake need to be modified a bit to fit 416's? i thought the center intake bolts were at different angles than a set of 081's.

The ones you want are the 081; they have the right intake bolt pattern and center-bolt valve covers. 416s are about the same thing except early intake bolt pattern and perimeter-bolt valve covers.

081s came on 87-up 305 TPI and L69 (Monte Carlo SS) motors.

You DO NOT WANT any other 87-up casting for your car. There are none that are "almost as good". If someone tries to sell you something and says that, leave immediately, they are trying to rip you off.

If you are willing to deal with the different intake bolt thing and change your valve covers, then 416s would be OK; those are very plentiful, they came on 82-87 LG4, L69, & LB9 notors in these cars, and in Caprice and A & G-body 305s, and other chassis too. They are very very common.

He could always go with the 083 casts from the 350 TPI's a bit better then the 081's no?

Not really, for a 305.... about the same flow, significantly lower compression

I will verify the 081s are some good heads, I put a ported set converted to 1.94/1.50s on a 9:1 comp 350 with a stock cam and it flys! it doesnt act like its hurting for air (ok ,more cam). I did a basic port job on the heads and verified consistancy accross the head (worked hard on the bowls and guide boss). then I brought them to the machine shop for a 3 angle valve job and the guy was kinda impressed with them, he didnt realize they were 305 heads until he looked at the casting #s. I then added race flow manley valves. Sure I spent a good 300 $ on em but I feel its worth it crap a set of vortechs are over 500$ before machining (not that the 081s ar better).
