4th gen police cars

I live around Louisville, Kentucky and there are several metro police as well as State Troopers who are driving 4th gen Camaros with no emblems on them at all. I know the 3rd gen police issue cars were RS cars. Does anyone have any idea what is under the hood of these things or what kind of GM mods these cars have? Any response especially by maybe a trooper who may be a member here or anyone is really appreciated.

I don't know about the entire IL state, but I know there are 2 State Troopers around me that drive unmarked Camaros. One white and one red.

They come with the usual LS1 with no mods. They don't need any mods.

A 4th gen will run mid 13's totally stock AND get ~25 MPG on the highway, and have a top speed of ~155 MPH (IIRC the speed govenor is 157MPH). They can outrun about 98.7% of cars on the road.

There's not need to mod them. It would make them even harder to drive.

That would fall into the 1.3%

AAMOF, If he would do that I would let him get away. Someone's gotta be really koo koo to do that in a car like that.

How often do you see a Lambo or Ferrari? The people who can afford them are usually smart enough not to run from the cops unless they stole it or they're drug dealers I guess. Anyways, around here, they use unmarked white camaro's. Really sucks. Every time I see a white Camaro I have to slow down. Matt

MY 91 would make a great police car. Those 2.73 gears would do really well in an interstate chase. I have been told they shut down at like 110. HAHAHAH Yea right. I will tach around 3k at 110. That only tells me I have 3k to go and ???? on the MPH. 120 is scary in the vert and that about all I will do. Don't have much of an urge to fly with a headliner for a roof. Thanks again for the replies. And the comment about a pasta rocket. That's pretty good.

The lambos and ferraris can't out run the motorola. There is a guy in fl-thirdgen.org that buys and sells old camaro cop cars, if you posted there, he would probably pick up on it. I forget his name, sorry.

In Connecticutt, IIRC, had 100 shots of nitrous on 3 out of every 4 of the 4th gen police cars they had.

Im scared. I know a guy with a 2001 z28 that has headwork, cam, FULL exhaust, 4.10s, t56, and drumroll please a blower!

The car is insane. It scares the freakin pee right out of me. He has never lost a street race. I think hes only running like 4.5lbs boost. The guy is only 20 years old to. 1 year ahead of me in high school. and mommy and daddy didnt buy it. I dont know how he did it.

Lets see. In Maryland they've got a '97 SS LT1, som '99 Z's, and they have an anniversary edition SS. Red with the checkered stripes. Not to mention the couple of mustang GT's they have too. I pulled up to one one day and started revving. He rolled down the window, looked at me and shook his head. Then flashed the badge. Needless to say I left him alone

Uhh... I need to change my pants

A buddy of mine has a 91 Firebird with a 383 stroker matched up with a Paxton Supercharger w/nitrous. Car looks stock except for the roll cage(which the dark tint hides pretty well) and aftermarket wheels. Looks can be decieving though. Last time I was at the track with him he ran high tens on a muggy day w/nitrous shot. We just changed his exhaust to 3inch from the collectors through a Flowmaster 80 series. Car is insanely loud. Having no emissions check is nice
