How much power with....
Ok Im considering a head swap very soon. Within 2 weeks possibly. Im leaning towards vortecs because they are cheao and make decent power.
I will probably buy the pace parts package which includes just about everything I need to install them including intake manifold, gaskets, and everything. all for only 795$.
I will be installing a cam also. They will take a .480 lift so I will probably look for something close to that with a good amount of duration.
How much power do you think I could make with this setup?
How much power with a set of sportsman II heads, and a ~.500 cam?
BTW its on a 9.6:1 compression 350, with full exhaust, holley 670cfm street avenger.

People make near 400 HP consistently with those heads and a Comp XE268H. Of course your carb is a good bit too small for that, but you should come somewhat close. That's the cam I'd recommend.
You can make alot more power with the S2s; but they are real high-perf heads. With that same cam and no port work on the S2s, you'll probably make more power with the Vortecs. But with a different setup, like a bigger cam and the right size carb, they could make alot more power than the Vortecs.

Whats the lift on the 268? is it the .454/.454 on? or is that the extreme energy roller cam that has near .500'' lift?
Supposedly the 670 street avenger is good for 300-400hp.
Right now its alittle to much carb I run pretty rich.

Your carb is too small
Too much carb will not make a motor run rich; too much jet in any carb however will make it run rich

I know its jetted to high. I bought a jet kit and jetted it down as far as possible with no luck. I figure my carb would be good for a set of vortec heads and a decent camshaft. GMHP makes 330hp with vortec, a decent cam, and a 600cfm holley.

Then your carb is too small and it's fornicated besides.
GM left around 100 HP on the table with that weenie carb and cam. Don't make the same mistake.

Dude I only had enough jets to go down 2 steps.
What carb do you suggest for a vortec headed, mild cammed, 350. Im not sticking a 750 on there that is to much. I think the 670cfm should be fine once its jetted correctly. I should be able to go up on the jets once I get the heads and cam. I have jets #64-99 just nothing lower.
