Lb9

Exactly, what does an LB9 engine have that differntiates it from other 305's and my LB9 has had the TPI replaced with a 650cfm Holley 4777 car on a 14101074 manifold with a 1/2" spacer. What sort of HP would this engine be making, now? There has been much carnage to the emissions gear, BTW

I wanna say it has a 1 piece rear main seal and provisions for a roller cam and center bolt heads.

I think the LB9 is basically an L69 with TPI and a roller cam.

Not all LB9's had roller cams. The '85 and '86 did not. I don't think the 87 had roller cams either.

Good point, but my 87 LB9 did have it. I guess the TPI is the distinguishing feature.

Any way the carb probably is not adding to the overall power much. If anything it may be less but probably not enough to notice. To take advantage of the carb a higher rpm band would be needed. A cam that produced power above 5000 rpm.

Does anyone have specific specs on the LB9? Cam lift/duration, HP and Torque?

In the tech section of this site are specs for the LB9s. But they are different for each year. So you need to know what year you have. The specs include cam size and power rating.

Your right. It was only the LB9 from '85 and '86 that had the flat tappet cam. Oh well, at least the '85 was a good cam. The '86 was way too mild.
